2012 End of Year Book Survey

Best In Books 2012

1. Best Book You Read In 2012? (You can break it down by genre if you want)
This was the hardest question for me this year! I read 233 books so narrowing it down is not easy at all! I did manage to pick 30 favorites and posted them HERE!

2. Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn’t?
Full Disclosure by Dee Henderson-I love most of her other books and when I found out she was finally writing again, I was psyched! But the book ended up being rather disappointing and I still can't really figure out my opinion!

 3. Most surprising (in a good way!) book of 2012?
I had many books that were pleasantly surprising but I think the one I was most surprised by how much I absolutely loved it was A Change of Fortune by Jen Turano!

 4. Book you recommended to people most in 2012?
I did a decent amount of recommending this year but some of the top one's were: The River of Time Series by Lisa T. Bergren, Mary Connealy's books, Susan May Warren's books, Short-Straw Bride by Karen Witemeyer, and Jenny B. Jones's books.

 5. Best series you discovered in 2012?
I discovered many new authors but not that many whole series! I guess I would say The Hunger Games

 6. Favorite new authors you discovered in 2012?
Jen Turano, Dani Pettrey, Julie Klassen, Rosslyn Elliott, Jody Hedlund, Lynette Eason, Katie Ganshert, Elizabeth Camden, Andrew Klaven, and Rachel Coker

7. Best book that was out of your comfort zone or was a new genre for you?
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

 8. Most thrilling, unputdownable book in 2012?
Normally I'm pretty good at putting books down when I need to and letting them go till I get the chance to come back but the one book that messed with that this year was Deadly Pursuit by Irene Hannon. Whenever I wasn't reading it my brain was thinking about what was gonna happen. Unfortunately I made the mistake of reading this over Thanksgiving so I was constantly having to put it down for long periods of time!

 9. Book You Read In 2012 That You Are Most Likely To Re-Read Next Year:
I want to reread so many of the books I read this year but I really don't have the time for that! One that I'm pretty sure I'll reread is A Change of Fortune by Jen Turano

10. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2012?

11. Most memorable character in 2012?
This is a tough one! I think I'm going to go with Luca Forelli from Lisa T. Bergren's River of Time Series (see above photo!)!

12. Most beautifully written book read in 2012?
Baroness by Susan May Warren, and Interrupted by Rachel Coker,

13. Book that had the greatest impact on you in 2012?
Kisses From Katie by Katie Davis, Pure Love, Pure Life by Elsa Kok Colopy, and Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas

 14. Book you can’t believe you waited UNTIL 2012 to finally read?
Cascade and Torrent by Lisa T. Bergren

 15. Favorite Passage/Quote From A Book You Read In 2012?
I didn't write down too many quotes from books in 2012 which is something I plan on rectifying, but one passage that I love is from Jocelyn Green's Wedded to War:

Caleb: "Is he the best partner for you?"
Charlotte: "He's the one I came with."
Caleb: "That doesn't answer my question. If you make a misstep, step on his toes, if you go the 'wrong' direction, what would he do?"
Charlotte: "Well, he would steer me back to the right way and try to keep leading I suppose." Her voice was laced with uncertainty.
Caleb: "What if your stepping out of formation was actually a step in the right direction? What a shame it would be if you were always confined to a prescribed number and pattern of steps." Charlotte tilted her head up at him, confusion written on her face. He went on. "Don't you think that instead of yanking you back into place, the right partner would step out with you?" He drew her closer-perhaps too close. But he didn't care and she didn't fight it. He bent his head and spoke softly in her ear. "Daring to believe that another dance, a different dance, could be just as elegant-or even more so?"

16.Shortest & Longest Book You Read In 2012?
Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas was my longest barely beating out Little Women! I read a few novellas and I don't feel like trying to figure out which was shortest!

 17. Book That Had A Scene In It That Had You Reeling And Dying To Talk To Somebody About It? (a What?! moment, an epic revelation, a steamy kiss, etc. etc.) Be careful of spoilers!
I can't remember!

18. Favorite Relationship From A Book You Read In 2012 (be it romantic, friendship, etc).
Luca and Lia from The River of Time Series by Lisa T. Bergren

19. Favorite Book You Read in 2012 From An Author You Read Previously
You Don't Know Me by Susan May Warren, Over the Edge by Mary Connealy

20. Best Book You Read That You Read Based SOLELY On A Recommendation From Somebody Else:
Hidden Places by Lynn Austin. My best friend loves this book and I wouldn't have read it if it wasn't for her-I enjoyed it though!

 Book Blogging/Reading Life in 2012

I had a lot of goals! I  made my Goodreads challenge of 230 books and my personal goal of reading all of the books I owned prior to 2012. I did a bunch of reading challenges too and made all but two of them I think!

Looking Ahead…

1. One Book You Didn’t Get To In 2012 But Will Be Your Number 1 Priority in 2013?
All of the 43 books I have that I got in 2012 and didn't read!

2. Book You Are Most Anticipating For 2013?
Top Ten is here but I have a bunch more!

3. One Thing You Hope To Accomplish Or Do In Your Reading/Blogging In 2013?
I'm again trying to read all of the books that I owned prior to this year!

I love these end of year posts, I get to learn more about both books and blogger! I also am going to try and focus less on ARC's and more on the collection of books accumulated.
Here is my survey =)
Happy New Year!
