Day 3 Love It or Hate It Challenge
Remembering 2013: Answer the following...

1. Best Book of 2013-Impossible for me to pick just one! I have 89 books that I rated five stars this year and almost that many four star ones!

2. Worst Book of 2013-Afloat by Erin Healy The synopsis really interested me but the actual book bored me and I ended up not liking it much at all!

3. Favorite New Author-Sarah Sundin&Melissa Tagg-Sarah has five books out so far all of which I read this year and loved and Melissa is a debut author who blew me away with her awesome book!

4. Book that surprised you-The Courier of Caswell Hall by Melanie Dobson-I don't know why but I had really low expectations for this book and I ended up loving it!

5. Book that disappointed you-Into the Whirlwind by Elizabeth Camden-I read all three of this author's first books last year and each one was better than the last, with Against the Tide being one of my absolute favorite books. So I had insanely high expectations for this one and it really didn't come close to meeting them though it was still an enjoyable book!

  1. Sarah Sundin is a great author!! I haven't read Afloat or The Courier of Caswell Hall, but I want to read the latter one. :)

Congrats on finishing five books so far! I'm currently reading "No One To Trust" and absolutely loving it!! :)

  2. WOW! Five books finished...GREAT JOB!

It was definitely hard for me to pick just one for my best book too, for the same reasons.

I agree wholeheartedly with your opinions of Afloat! If it wasn't that I read a few others I disliked more than it it definitely would have made my worst book too! As it is, I put it as the book that disappointed me.

Sarah Sundin is a fabulous author - can't wait to get her next book! I haven't read Melissa Tagg's book yet but I keep seeing how much you loved it, and I know of a few others that have loved it too, that I'm planning on it being one of the first I read in the new year. :)

I didn't think I had heard of The Courier of Caswell Hall but when I looked it up on Goodreads I have it listed - LOL! I see what you mean, I think my expectations would have been low for it too. I say would have because knowing you enjoyed it makes my expectations change since we have many of the same opinions with books. :)

I completely agree with everything you said about Into the Whirlwind - it's like you took the words out of my mouth! :)

  3. Melanie-Thanks! The Courier of Caswell Hall is great and definitely worth a read! I literally just finished No One to Trust! I couldn't stop reading and finished it about five hours after starting it (with a few breaks)!

Megan-Thanks! I cannot wait for In Perfect Time either! Made to Last is the perfect book to start the new year with! You won't be sorry!
That's funny! Yeah I love knowing that I can rely on your opinion of books since we have such similar taste!

  4. I just got Made To Last for Christmas, can't wait to start it. Especially since I know how you love it!!! :D

I'm currently reading No One To Trust, I started it last night and ended up reading 140 pages! I hated having to put it down to go to sleep!!! :D

  5. Caitlyn-Yay for getting Made to Last! I never get tired of gushing about that book! I hope you enjoy it!
I had just started No One to Trust last night too and even though I knew I had church in the morning and should put it down I just couldn't so I ended up finishing it!

  6. Girl, I don't know how you can read so fast! FIVE books!! I really admire and applaud you!!! Can you tell me your secret? And this year you've read 170 books, right? I think that's the number you gave in a post the other day. AWESOME!!! Yes, I'd LOVE to know your secret! Lol.

To be honest, none of the books you've mentioned here are familiar to me. But that's why we have good ol' Goodreads and Amazon! I'll definitely investigate further!!

Thanks for sharing, and Happy New Year!! : )

  7. P.S. Wait....someone else in the Read-A-Thon mentioned "Afloat", by Erin Healy. I think it was Megan, at Isle of Books. Whoever it was, she didn't like it, either. Now that's two people already. But I have read the synopsis, and don't like it at all. So I'll be skipping it!

  8. Maria-Haha I am a fast reader but some of these were novellas so it's not that impressive! As for how many books I read in 2013 the final total was 219. I hope you find some books that sound good to you!
Megan I actually buddy read Afloat and yeah we both weren't fans!
