Bout of Books 9.0: Day 1 Challenges

Bout of Books

Book Buying Spree
Hosted by Bookish Comforts

"Imagine if you will: you’ve just received some FANTASTIC news! You have won a $100 book buying spree! Now comes the hard part though: what books will you buy?! For this challenge, you’ll be creating your book buying spree wishlist, and sharing it in the comments."

For this challenge you were supposed to fill your cart of The Book Depository with books from your wishlist but several of the books on my wishlist were "currently unavailable" at The Book Depository so I just listed the Amazon price instead! Hope that's OK!

Beowulf by Ronie Kendig $12.68
Love's Awakening by Laura Frantz $12.07
Dare to Love Again by Julie Lessman $11.73
Trapped by Irene Hannon $12.07
That Certain Summer by Irene Hannon
The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck
Perfectly Matched by Maggie Brendan $12.27
The Icing on the Cake by Janice Thompson $11.33
Total: $96.95

Mad-Libs
Hosted by Cheap Thrills

Here’s how it works:
I give a list of words I need from you: noun, verb, adjective, etc.
You pick words from book titles. (Share title and author so we can learn about new books!)
Use those words to complete a short story.

Here’s the list:

Character name – Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay
Adjective 1 – A Distant Melody by Sarah Sundin
Adjective 2 – The Silent Governess by Julie Klassen
Item – Lock, Stock, and Over a Barrel by Melody Carlson
Occupation – Stealing the Preacher by Karen Witemeyer
Act of violence – When a Secret Kills by Lynette Eason
Adjective 3 – Rebellious Heart by Jody Hedlund
Noun 1 – Fatal Judgement by Irene Hannon
Noun 2 – True Devotion by Dee Henderson

Here’s the story:

I just read the greatest book!
This guy Mr. Knightley ends up in the middle of a distant conspiracy. Turns out his ancestors were pirates, and he might be the key to finding the Silent Barrel. It’s a mythic artifact that disappeared centuries ago, and now a shadowy group of preachers are looking for it. No one knows what uncovering it might do, but these guys are willing to kill for it.
I won’t say anything else. But believe me, if you like rebellious stories with judgement and devotion, you have to read this one.
