Forget Me Not by Amber Stokes

About the Book
Prequel to Bleeding Heart
Old hurts, new betrayals, and a love that survives them all...
Summer 1885
A startling revelation sends Elizabeth Lawson escaping into a stormy night - and tosses her into the arms of a young mountain man with secrets of his own. When he offers to take her to the Nevada mining town where her long-lost brother lives, she accepts. Suspicions and uncertainties are pushed aside as she struggles to forge a future for herself by meeting her past.
David has been hiding from his painful memories for years. The solitude and wildness of the Rocky Mountains are challenge and comfort enough for him - until Elizabeth's arrival. Fueled by anger and a sense of obligation, he strives to take control of his new situation...only to find control slipping from his grasp with each new emotion Elizabeth evokes in him.
When their journey leads them on unexpected paths, can two lonely hearts find the strength to remember the good amid the heartbreak?

My Thoughts
Such a great sophomore novel! After thoroughly enjoying Bleeding Heart last year I couldn't wait to read book one and jumped at the chance to review it! Having read the second book first I had a general idea of how this book was going to end but that in no way made it any less enjoyable, and there were still some surprises thrown in! I loved all of the characters especially David and Elizabeth, and even though their journey had some bumps I enjoyed watching them fall in love. It was great to see the end to Jacob and Annabelle's story, which started in Bellflower, and it made me happy. I felt bad for Joe, but since he is a main character in BH I did already know what happened to him. Myghal was once again awesome and I really can't wait to read his story in Morning Glory! I'm going to leave it at that so that I don't accidentally spoil anything, but to suffice it to say I loved this book and it made me want to go reread Bleeding Heart!

Meet the Author
Amber Stokes has a Bachelor of Science degree in English and a passion for the written word - from blogging to writing poetry, short stories, and novels. After her brief time at college in Oregon, she is now back home among the redwoods of Northern California, living life one day at a time and pursuing her passion via freelance editing and self-publishing.

I received this book free from the author in exchange for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

  1. Oh, Abbi, you have made me so happy! That's all I could have hoped for a reader's reaction to be. :) I hoped that there were still some surprises even though those who had read BH would know the general ending, and I had hoped that Annabelle and Jacob's story would be even sweeter for knowing their beginnings from Bellflower. :) I'm thrilled Myghal is continuing to win hearts, and I'm thrilled you want to re-read BH! I'm actually contemplating hosting a read-along in May so readers can re-familiarize themselves with the story before Morning Glory's release, and so they can get caught up chronologically. Would you be interested in joining something like that? Since my stories are so short, we could probably do it in a couple of weeks. ;)

Thanks so much for being a part of the blog tour! Glad to have you as a supporter and friend. ♥

Sandra: I truly appreciate your support! Hoping I can do a read-along for Bleeding Heart later this spring... I think it would really help to get everyone caught up again after releasing the prequel in between BH and MG. ;)
