And this week, CFBA is featuring Stuck in the Middle by Virginia Smith! I have this book sitting in my to-be-read stack, but I've read Ginny's debut novel and loved it!

Adam by Ted Dekker

If you've been reading this blog for any length of time, you'll know that I'm a fan of Ted Dekker. My admiration only grew when I interviewed him a few months ago for an article (additional clips here). So I picked up Adam this past afternoon with eager anticipation.

FBI behavior psychologist Daniel Clark has one obsession - finding the serial killer known only as Eve. His relentless hunt has already cost him his marriage. And then it claims his life. Or does it?

Resuscitated twenty minutes after Eve killed him, Daniel is haunted by the fact that only he saw the man's face - and he can't remember it. There is only one way to recover his lost memories before Eve finds another victim. Daniel must reenact his own death.

But will dying again bring life, or unlock the door to something far worse?

This book is both gripping and haunting, and fully complements the author's previous books. I've read a dozen of Ted's full-length novels (pictured right), so a few of the plot twists were expected, and the review copy gave away a plot point I wish it hadn't, because it ripped away suspense from the latter part of the book. I liked the way backstory was revealed through a nine-part news story throughout the book, but I would have preferred the novel didn't begin with part one, but instead the current story. It took a little while for me to get into the book for that reason. It also shares some some similarities with T. L. Hines' Waking Lazarus.

But the real test comes in a few hours. Will I have trouble sleeping?

Russell Fink and a Quick Question

Does point of view influence whether you buy/read a book?

Leave your answer in the comments, and be sure to reply to last post's question as well! Yes, these questions have a point, which I shall reveal in the coming weeks.

This week, CBFA is featuring My Name is Russell Fink by Michael Snyder. I read Michael's short story (with the same protagonist) on Infuze, but I haven't gotten around to reading the book. My to-be-read stack is reaching murderous heights (i.e. if it fell on me, it would kill me).

Simmering

I'd really like to get back into blogging more. So many other things push it out of the way - reading, reviewing, writing, networking sites, reading others' blogs, emails to handle, and more. But I've been learning a lot, and I'm getting to the spot again where I'm full enough to share. I also have some great ideas, but still have some things to tie up first.

I have one question for you, though.

What one thing do you want to know about a novel before buying/reading it?

Leave your answer in the comments.

P.S. CFBA is featuring Sisters, Ink by Rebeca Seitz this week.
