Friday Memes 7/25

Book Blogger Hop

The Question:
Do you like to read books with a theme such as Halloween, Christmas, etc?

My Answer:
I'm pretty neutral on this subject. If the plot sounds good it really doesn't make a difference to me if there is a theme or not. That being said if the book does have a holiday theme I like to save it to read around that holiday!

"Please join me every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name."

"Is this it?" Sera James bounded through the front doors of the Manhattan gallery, so excited that she nearly slipped for running across the hardwood floor in her heels. She came to a flustered stop in front of the large canvas hanging on the back wall. Breathless, she asked, "You've confirmed-this is her?"

My Thoughts
I love how this beginning gets you excited without knowing what you are excited about! The author did a fantastic job of making you feel the anticipation!

I have several Christmas titles I have picked up at thrift stores this year that I'm saving to read more towards the holidays.

I love novels about artists. I've seen this novel on a few blogs. Would like to read it. I like the beginning.

I agree with you about the themes. I'm pretty neutral as well. I love the beginning of this book! I want to know what she's so excited about and who "her" is.

I'm similar to you, I'm not that fussed about themes! But I do tend to theme my films to the holidays! The beginning sounds really good, I wonder what and who she's looking for! Thanks for sharing :) Hope you have a great weekend!

I want to read The Butterfly and the Violin. It sounds really good. Love the description of Sera almost falling. :)

Thanks for sharing.

As for themed books...I don't really care for them. :)

That opening definitely made me want to keep reading to find out why Sera is so excited. I'm intrigued by the book's title too.

Billy-I always try to save Christmas ones to read in December but I usually end up too busy!

Tea-It's not really about an artist-she's art dealer. But it's very good!

Katherine-It's a fascinating story!

Juli-I do the same with holiday movies!

Elizabeth-I'm loving it!

Sandra-Glad it hooked you! It is a great title!
