Safe in His Arms by Colleen Coble

About the Book
Sometimes it takes a stranger to see you as you really are.
Born and raised on sprawling Texas land, Margaret O'Brien prides herself on her competence as a rancher. But her father believes she's made for more than just dawn-to-dusk work. He wants her to have the love of a good man, to raise children, to build a life. But Margaret gave up such dreams years ago. She's convinced no man would have her, that the ranch is her life now.
So when Margaret's father hires Daniel Cutler as a new foreman, she's frustrated and suspicious. Then an overheard conversation links him with a gang of bank robbers, and she's downright worried. Daniel swears he's not involved, but Margaret's not convinced. She knows the man still has secrets. But would a criminal be so kind and talk so convincingly of his faith? As a series of tragic "accidents" threatens all she holds dear, Margaret must decide what to trust: her own ears, her best judgment . . . or what her heart keeps telling her.

My Thoughts
I think I liked this book even more than the first in this series, Blue Moon Promise. When we first met Margaret in that book I wasn't quite sure that I would enjoy reading a whole book about here but I loved it! Daniel was my absolute favorite character! I loved how he saw the true Margaret from the start and the care he took with her and her feelings. He made me melt! Margaret was great too! Just the right blend of strong and soft. Her emotions were so well written that I felt them right along with her. The plot was beautifully done with quite a few twists that I didn't see coming at all. The only problem I had was that at one point the characters were headed to a place they needed to go (don't want to spoil anything!) and on the way they start talking and then head home without any mention to the switch of plans, and they weren't plans that should have changed. But I was reading an ARC of the book so maybe that got changed before being published!

About the Book
Margaret suspects the new foreman on her father’s ranch is hiding something. Though Daniel promises she’s safe with him around, how can she be sure?
Born and raised on a sprawling ranch in Texas, Margaret O’Brien prides herself on her competence as a rancher. She’s convinced she can do as good a job on the ranch as her brother who died in the war. But her father believes she’s made for more than just dawn-to-dusk work. He wants her to have the love of a good man, to have children, to build a life. But she gave up hope for such dreams years ago. The ranch is her life now.
When Margaret’s father hires Daniel Cutler as a new foreman, she’s frustrated and suspicious. Daniel swears he’s turned over a new leaf and isn’t involved with the thieves he used to run with, but Margaret is unconvinced. When she finds out he’s an undercover Texas Ranger, sparks fly. Can she help Daniel extricate his younger brother who is still involved? And can Daniel convince her he’s the safe haven he’s promised for her heart?

Why I Want It
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Blue Moon Promise, so I'm looking forward to learning more about Margaret! Also it just sounds good!

Tidewater Inn by Colleen Coble

About the Book

Welcome to Hope Beach. A place of intoxicating beauty . . . where trouble hits with the force of a hurricane.
Inheriting a beautiful old hotel on the Outer Banks could be a dream come true for Libby. The inn cries out for her restorer’s talent and love of history. She’s delighted to learn of the family she never knew she had. And the handsome Coast Guard lieutenant she’s met there on the island could definitely be the man of her dreams.
But Libby soon realizes that the only way she can afford the upkeep on the inn is to sell it to developers who are stalking the island. The father who willed her the inn has died before she could meet him, and her newfound brother and sister are convinced she’s there to steal their birthright. Worst of all, her best friend and business partner has been kidnapped before her eyes, and Libby’s under suspicion for the crime.
Libby’s dream come true is becoming a nightmare. Her only option is to find her friend and prove her innocence, or lose everything on the shores of Hope Island.

My Thoughts
I really don't like writing a review about a book I didn't like but alas sometimes it must be done. I wanted and tried to like this book but I found myself greatly disliking it instead. The plot seemed badly written, with things being just thrown in there at random times and the characters felt unrealistic. The word that kept going through my mind as I read it was, hokey. I kept seeing ways that it could have easily been improved. to be honest I didn't want to finish it. The one thing that I did get out of it was the idea of truly living WWJD out in our everyday lives. As Christians it is easy to grow numb to the importance of that phrase since it is literally everywhere in Christian circles. But if you think about it it is such a helpful way to check what you are doing. If you simply ask yourself, "What Would Jesus Do?" when faced with a decision or choice you are instantly involving Jesus in that action and He will help you.
Again I'm sorry that I didn't like this book but this is my opinion I know many other people who have actually loved it! Check out HERE and HERE
