The Question:
Do you visit the same blogs each week or do you branch out and try to find new blogs?

My Answer:
I follow all of my blogs through feedly and I read the posts that interest me. Occasionally I will find a new blog to follow but I don't actively seek them out.

Levi woke to the sounds of chaos. Footsteps thumping through the house. Giggling toddlers. Screeching children. Women unsuccessfully shushing.
Rebels by Jill Williamson

My Thoughts
As I started reading this it almost sounded like someone was in the house that shouldn't be there but then it changes to normal life sounds!

Waiting on Wednesday #140: The Wishing Season

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event that spotlights upcoming releases that we're
eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

The Wishing Season by Denise Hunter
Thomas Nelson-December 9, 2014

About the Book
Living side-by-side, a fledgling chef and a big-hearted contractor find a delicious attraction.
Trouble is, their chemistry could spoil their dreams.
Spirited PJ McKinley has the touch when it comes to food. Her dream of opening her own restaurant is just one building short of reality. So when a Chapel Springs resident offers her beloved ancestral home to the applicant with the best plan for the house, PJ believes it’s a contest she was meant to win.
Contractor Cole Evans is confident, professional, and swoon-worthy—but this former foster kid knows his life could have turned out very differently. When Cole discovers the contest, he believes his home for foster kids in transition has found its saving grace. All he has to do is convince the owner that an out-of-towner with a not-for-profit enterprise is good for the community.

But when the eccentric philanthropist sees PJ and Cole’s proposals, she makes an unexpected decision: the pair will share the house for a year to show what their ideas are made of. Now, with Cole and the foster kids upstairs and PJ and the restaurant below, day-to-day life has turned into out-and-out competition—with some seriously flirtatious hallway encounters on the side. Turns out in this competition, it’s not just the house on the line, it’s their hearts.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? #149

 Hosted By: Book Journey

Here is what I finished last week:
This book was a great conclusion to a fun series! I only managed to finish this one book because my week was absolute craziness, especially this weekend! Some days I would be home for less than ten minutes before I had to turn around and head back out! The biggest news of the week is that I got a job! I am now a Sales Clerk at a local bakery! I found out about the job and got an application on Monday, returned the application on Tuesday, got a call on Wednesday, had an interview and was offered the job on Thursday, and had my first day of training Friday! It was a bit sudden and totally a God thing!

What I am currently reading:
Only about a chapter in but I am loving it so far!
(No I didn't finish the other three books I just got tired of displaying them without making progress so until I pick them up again I won't put their pics up!)

What I hope to read this week:
I honestly can't see myself doing much more than finishing the book I've started! I have my first three days of work plus the holiday so I just can't imagine much reading time!

The Question:
Do you have any advice for new bloggers?

My Answer:
Don't be afraid to give your true opinion! I used to be really scared of writing reviews for books I didn't like but as time went on I realized that people wanted my thoughts so I gave them-in the nicest way possible though! There is no reason to be mean!

The blast of a gunshot awoke Emma Chambers. But it was the whiz of a musket ball over her head and its ping against a metal beam that brought her out of her sweet dreams.

Waiting on Wednesday #139: The Secret of Pembrooke Park

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event that spotlights upcoming releases that we're
eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

The Secret of Pembrooke Park by Julie Klassen
Bethany House-December 2, 2014

About the Book
Abigail Foster is the practical daughter. She fears she will end up a spinster, especially as she has little dowry, and the one man she thought might marry her seems to have fallen for her younger, prettier sister.
Facing financial ruin, Abigail and her father search for more affordable lodgings, until a strange solicitor arrives with an astounding offer: the use of a distant manor house abandoned for eighteen years. The Fosters journey to imposing Pembrooke Park and are startled to find it entombed as it was abruptly left: tea cups encrusted with dry tea, moth-eaten clothes in wardrobes, a doll's house left mid-play...
The handsome local curate welcomes them, but though he and his family seem acquainted with the manor's past, the only information they offer is a stern warning: Beware trespassers drawn by rumors that Pembrooke Park contains a secret room filled with treasure.
This catches Abigail's attention. Hoping to restore her family's finances--and her dowry--Abigail looks for this supposed treasure. But eerie sounds at night and footprints in the dust reveal she isn't the only one secretly searching the house.
Then Abigail begins receiving anonymous letters, containing clues about the hidden room and startling discoveries about the past.

As old friends and new foes come calling at Pembrooke Park, secrets come to light. Will Abigail find the treasure and love she seeks...or very real danger?

Why I Want It
Julie's books are always beautifully written and I am looking forward to this release!

Where Treetops Glisten Novella Collection

About the Book
The crunch of newly fallen snow, the weight of wartime
Siblings forging new paths and finding love in three stories, filled with the wonder of Christmas
Turn back the clock to a different time, listen to Bing Crosby sing of sleigh bells in the snow, as the realities of America’s involvement in the Second World War change the lives of the Turner family in Lafayette, Indiana.

In Cara Putman’s White Christmas, Abigail Turner is holding down the Home Front as a college student and a part-time employee at a one-of-a-kind candy shop. Loss of a beau to the war has Abigail skittish about romantic entanglements—until a hard-working young man with a serious problem needs her help.

Abigail’s brother Pete is a fighter pilot hero returned from the European Theater in Sarah Sundin’s I’ll Be Home for Christmas, trying to recapture the hope and peace his time at war has eroded. But when he encounters a precocious little girl in need of Pete’s friendship, can he convince her widowed mother that he’s no longer the bully she once knew?

In Tricia Goyer’s Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Meredith Turner, “Merry” to those who know her best, is using her skills as a combat nurse on the frontline in the Netherlands. Halfway around the world from home, Merry never expects to face her deepest betrayal head on, but that’s precisely what God has in mind to redeem her broken heart.

The Turner family believes in God’s providence during such a tumultuous time. Can they absorb the miracle of Christ’s birth and His plan for a future?

My Thoughts
From the moment I heard about this collection I knew I wanted to read it! Not only was it WWII, which is my favorite time period, but it was also about siblings and I love when there is a collection of books about families! Then to top it off one of the authors is one of my absolute favorites, another I'd really enjoyed a few of her books, and the third I hadn't read before but I'd heard good things! So it goes without saying that I was pretty psyched to read this book and thankfully it did not disappoint!

Winter Wonderland (Prologue) The perfect way to start off and set the mood for this collection! I loved the chance to get to meet the characters before their individual stories began.

White Christmas. First of all I loved sharing a name with the heroine of this story, it's always fun to read books that have your name in them! But beyond that, I loved Jackson and Abigail! Their story was so sweet and I loved how everything played out for them. Jackson was so nice and sweet that it was no wonder he broke through Abigail's barriers almost seamlessly, and I loved how Abigail's gentle nature was just what Jackson needed to open up about his problem. Their romance was well paced and I enjoyed every minute of it!

I'll be Home for Christmas. This one was definitely my favorite of the three! I read this story in pretty much one sitting and it was the perfect thing to be reading as we celebrated Veteran's Day! Pete was amazing! I loved that he was a pilot and it was cool to see how events from the past had changed him into the hero he was. But in that change he lost his joy and it was so cute to watch God through Grace and Linnie help him find it again. And speaking of Grace and Linnie, I loved them too! Grace was a bit closed off, which was understandable due to all she'd gone through but I loved seeing Pete wear down her defenses bit bit. And Linnie was an adorable precocious bundle of energy that you couldn't help loving. In case you couldn't tell I loved everything about this novella from start to finish!

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas-This tale was definitely a bit different from what you normally expect from a novella but that did not mean that I didn't enjoy it! Instead of having two people meet and fall in love it was about David and Merry, two people who'd been in love until David suddenly left the day the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. They end up in the same town in the Netherlands without knowing each other was there. So the majority of the story the couple spent apart, which as I mentioned is unique for a novella but the author made it work and it made their reunion all the sweeter. I loved how they each had sacrificed to do their part to thwart Hitler's plans, Merry through nursing wounded soldiers and David through helping the underground rescue and hide people. So even though it was outside the norm I did really enjoy this story too!

Let It Snow, Let it Snow (Epilogue) This epilogue made me smile a lot! It was cool to see all of the family together and it was the perfect ending to a beautiful collection!

The Question:
As you grow in your blogging experience, have you become more particular in terms of what you will post on your blog or what books you will read for review on your blog?

I haven't really noticed that much of a change though I have become more able to tell what books I will or won't like!

Grey, the color of the sky outside the makeshift hospital. Grey, the bare tree limbs that reached into the horizon, as if offering prayers for the Dutch countryside and its war-torn people. Grey, the ashen faces of the soldiers as the stretcher bearers carried them in on litters.

Surprised by Love by Julie Lessman

About the Book
Shy and unattractive as a child, Megan McClare has always been teased by her classmates. But when she returns home from her senior year in Paris, the wallflower has suddenly blossomed into a beauty. With ambitions to become a lawyer or doctor, Megan accepts an internship at the district attorney's office only to discover that she will be working with Devin Caldwell, a boy who mercilessly mocked her at school--and with whom she was hopelessly enamored. She turns to her dear friend Bram Hughes for support and advice. But Bram's vision is clouded by his sudden unwelcome attraction to a girl he had always thought of as a kid sister. He advises forgiveness, but can he forgive himself for pushing the woman he loves into the arms of another man?
Fan favorite Julie Lessman draws a romantic triangle that will have readers in a tizzy in this glittering Gilded Age tale of transforming love.

My Thoughts
I am so in love with this book (as I am with all of Julie's books)! I could barely put this book down and had it finished less than eight hours after it arrived in the mail.
Bram and Megan were some of my favorite characters in the first two books of this series and I was beyond ecstatic to read their story! And what a story it was! I was totally lost in the turmoil that was their relationship. From worrying if Devin would manage to steal Megan away to feeling Bram's pain as he struggled with falling in love with someone he'd seen as a little sister and realizing he couldn't have her because of an obligation he felt he had to his father. I was unable to stop turning pages to see how everything would play out!
I loved how sweet and kind Megan was. She handled everything with an endearing gentleness and it was impossible not to love her! I also liked how she never let her new found beauty affect her attitude at all!
Bram was equally amazing! I loved he was always putting others above himself and that his relationship with God was so strong. It was hard to watch as he struggled through things that had happened in his past but I was so happy when he finally broke free of it.
I also loved that we got to see Caitlyn and Logan's relationship play out! Julie honestly had me worried for a bit that they wouldn't get a happy ending but I should have known she'd never do such a thing! Their story was so full of ups and downs that it just made the end result all the more sweet!
In short I adored this book and could not wipe the smile off of my face for a really long time!
(Also it was totally awesome to have not only my name but my niece's name in this book! Dream come true!)

Waiting on Wednesday #138: A Most Inconvenient Marriage

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event that spotlights upcoming releases that we're
eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

A Most Inconvenient Marriage by Regina Jennings
Bethany House-December 2, 2014

About the Book
With few options of her own, nurse Abigail Stuart agrees to marry her patient, a gravely wounded soldier calling himself Jeremiah Calhoun. They arrange a quick ceremony before he dies, giving Abigail the rights to his Ozark farm and giving Jeremiah the peace of knowing someone will care for his ailing sister after he's gone--a practical solution for both of them.

After the war, Abigail fulfills her side of the bargain--until the real Jeremiah Calhoun shows up, injured but definitely alive, and wastes no time in challenging Abigail's story. Abigail is flummoxed. After months of claiming to be his widow, how can she explain that she's never seen this Jeremiah Calhoun before? How can she convince him that she isn't trying to steal his farm? And will she find a way to stay, even though this practical arrangement has turned into a most inconvenient marriage?

Why I Want It
A twist on the normal marriage of convenience story this book sounds hysterical! Plus the author is good so it should be an enjoyable read!

Top Ten Characters I Wish Would Get Their Own Book

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

#1. Conner Young from Team Hope by Susan May Warren
He is always the first person that comes to mind when I think of this topic since he was one of my favorite characters and I really want him to have a story of his own!

#2. Gabriella Dawn O'Conner from Winds of Change by Julie Lessman
I kinda fell in love with this adopted O'Conner and I would absolutely love to see what happens when she meets the right guy! Plus it would mean more O'Conners which would make me one of the happiest people on earth!

#3. Blake McClare from The Heart of San Francisco by Julie Lessman
Ok yes, he's not the most upstanding of characters but I would love to watch the right woman reform him! And if anyone is good at writing about reformed rogues it's Julie!

#4. Gabi and Marcello's Luca and Lia's, and Greco and Ali's kids from The River of Time Series by Lisa T. Bergren
How awesome would it be to have a second series about their kids?! I think it'd be mind-blowingly amazing!

#5. Laura McClellan from Petticoat Ranch by Mary Connealy
Admittedly this wish has already been granted since she just released a novella about her in Seekerville's collection but it has been a story I've wanted for awhile so I decided to include it! Plus it'd be even cooler if it was a novel instead!

#6. The Reeves boys from Calico Canyon by Mary Connealy
This has partially come true since Ike is the hero in the novella mentioned above (A fact that I love), but I always thought it'd be fun to have a series about these boys all grown up!

#7. Heath Kincaid from The Kincaid Brides by Mary Connealy
I think it'd be pretty cool if this fourth Kincaid brother got his own book!

#8. Big John Conroy from Trouble in Texas by Mary Connealy
I can't remember whether or not he was single but he was such a mysteriously interesting character that I really think it'd be fun to know more!

#9. Vivian & Lillian Kensington & Nell Morgan from The Grand Tour by Lisa T. Bergren
While I wasn't the biggest fan at first these three got better as the books went on and I think it'd be cool to get their stories!

#10. Rory "Bear" Riordan from Husbands for Hire by Kelly Eileen Hake
I don't know why but he always stuck in my mind and he was rather sweet so I think it'd be cute to see him find a girl!

At Bluebonnet Lake by Amanda Cabot

About the Book
Marketing maven Kate Sherwood's world is fast-paced, challenging, and always changing. The last thing she wants to do is slow down to a crawl at Rainbow's End, a dilapidated resort in the Texas Hill Country. But she cannot deny her ailing grandmother's request to visit the place where she and her deceased husband spent one glorious week (albeit fifty years ago). There Kate meets Greg Vange, the resort's handyman. But there's more to Greg than meets the eye--billions more, in fact, as he recently sold his successful software company and is at the resort in search of what's next for his life.
Kate isn't looking for romance, but she can't deny the sparks of attraction that fly every time she and Greg are together. She even starts to see potential in the rundown resort. Could there be a future there? Or will Kate's long-sought promotion take her back to the big city?

Amanda Cabot invites readers to step away from the pressures of the daily grind. They might be surprised by what they find at Rainbow's End.

My Thoughts
After enjoying both of this author's historical series I was curious to see how she would handle a contemporary. Thankfully this book was just as good as her previous ones and maybe even a little better. If you're looking for your typical light and sweet contemporary romance then I highly recommend this book. It wasn't a stand out novel but it was a very enjoyable read that I could find no fault with.
I loved the small town setting and all of the people both in town and at the resort were fun characters and you couldn't help but feel like part of the town.
Kate, Greg, Sally, and Roy were all great and their romances were cute to watch unfold.
As the book started I thought I knew exactly how it would end and while I did get some things right it played out differently then I expected, which I liked!
All in all this was a fun read that I'm sure others will enjoy!

Meet the Author
With both parents avid readers, it's no surprise that Amanda Cabot learned to read at an early age. From there it was only a small step to deciding to become a writer. Of course, deciding and becoming are two different things, as she soon discovered. Fortunately for the world, her first attempts at fiction, which included a play for her fifth grade class entitled "All About Thermometers," were not published, but she did meet her goal of selling a novel by her thirtieth birthday. Since then she's sold more than thirty novels under a variety of pseudonyms. When she's not writing, Amanda enjoys sewing, cooking and - of course - reading.

I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Book Blogger Hop

The Question:
Should book bloggers be doing more to support bookshops rather than just give links to Amazon or B&N as a place to buy the printed version of books they read?

My Answer:
While I do think it's nice to support your local bookstores most are only in certain areas so they aren't relevant to everyone. Since blogs are online and can be read anywhere it only makes sense that they advertise for online stores that are also able to be accessed by everyone!

It had to be an April Fools' joke. Any second, Sally would laugh and tell Kate to turn the car around, that they weren't really going to spend a month that-if the front gate was any indication-was in desperate need of an extreme makeover.

My Thoughts
Pretty good beginning. It made me keep reading to find out just how bad this place was!

Waiting on Wednesday #137: Love Unexpected

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event that spotlights upcoming releases that we're
eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Love Unexpected by Jody Hedlund
Bethany House-December 2, 2014

About the Book
1859
Presque Isle, Michigan
What Is the Secret That Could Shipwreck Both of Their Lives?
All Emma Chambers ever wanted was a home, but when her steamboat sinks just outside Presque Isle, she's left destitute and with no place to stay.
An unlikely solution arises when the lighthouse keeper arrives in town. He's just lost his wife and is having a difficult time caring for his child. So a traveling preacher gets the idea that the keeper and Emma might be the answer to each other's dilemma. After a hasty marriage, she finds herself heading to the lighthouse with this handsome but quiet stranger. Nothing in her aimless life, though, has prepared her for parenting a rambunctious toddler, as well as managing a household.

Emma soon suspects Patrick may be hiding something from her, and then she hears a disturbing rumor about the circumstances surrounding his late wife's death. It seems as if her wish for a home and family of her own could end up leading her once more into turbulent waters.

Why I Want It
There are three main reasons why I can't wait to read this book:
1. It's Jody Hedlund!!!
2. I love marriage of convenience stories
3. It just plain sounds good!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? #146

 Hosted By: Book Journey

Here is what I finished last week:
Finally got some decent reading in! Of course that was mainly due to the fact that I had review tour dates that I had to finish the first two by! I really enjoyed all three of them though!

What I am currently reading:
Again no progress on the first three but I'm enjoying rereading the Ally Carter one!

What I hope to read this week:
So this is a lot of books but I kinda have to get them all done this week! Two of them are due back at the library so I have to finish the ones that come before them and them and then At Bluebonnet Lake's tour is going on now and I need to get my review up! So here's to a bit of crazy reading times!
