Friday Memes 3/8

The Question:
What is your favorite book set in a different country than the one you live in?

My Answer:
The River of Time Series by Lisa T. Bergren! They are time-travel books set in modern day and then 14th century Italy and they are pure awesome!

"Please join me every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name."

Marie Belanger slid her arms around her husband's neck and looked up into his face. Pierre's brown eyes were troubled, and the dreamy expression she loved had fled.
Finding Marie by Susan Page Davis

My Thoughts
Not the most attention-grabbing start but it does pique your curiosity!

It does indeed make one curious. It doesn't seem like a beginning. Nice post. Have a great week!

Kind of an odd beginning for a book, I'd say. It seems like you're straight in the middle of something rather than leading into it, but it's actually still quite compelling, I think.

Boy, just saw your reading challenge box. Forty books this year? You ROCK! I could never do that. I'm totally stuck on my fourth for the year. But I didn't start until halfway through February either, due to lack of time :(

That is an odd start to a book. I haven't read this one.
