Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
So I have this slight obsession with how a series looks together on my shelf, I like them to match perfectly. But quite often there are little things that keep series from looking uniform. Here are ten of the ones I see the most and that bother me. I have pictures of examples from my shelves but this in no way reflects my opinion of the books themselves!
When a series has been republished several times so you end up with a hodge-podge of editions.
When two books aren't a series but are connected yet their covers don't match.
When the design is the same it's just not the same size on all of the books.
When all of the books are not the same size.
When you have some in paperback and some in hardback.
When one book just doesn't match the others and for no apparent reason.
When some of the books are mass market and the others aren't.
When the publisher changed the design after the first book came out.
When an author's books aren't connected yet some match and some don't.
When you have ARC's and normal books.

I totally agree with you. It seems I have a lot of series where I have some in hardback and some in paperback and it drives me absolutely crazy! Very crazy list idea!
I agree on all of these, particularly when books are not the same height or they don't match in design. What a fun list idea!

This was a great idea! It annoys me when the series looks wrong on my bookshelf for whatever reason!
This is annoying.
On my shelf, my series go together. End of discussion.

It's nice to find someone as obsessive about this as I am. I say there's nothing wrong with a little OCD :) I'll add one to your list that just happened to me this week. I'm starting a collection of matching hard cover Dickens novels and I have one that I bought a few months ago. I was about to order the next two when I found out the publisher only published four novels in that format so there will never, ever, be a complete set. What?!
This drives me crazy too! Hey do you know of any Christian books that fall into the fantasy genre? I'm always looking for them. Thanks - I'm now following your blog!

Nicole-Thanks for coming by and following! As to Christian fantasy recommendations I'm not a big fantasy lover but some of my sisters like it so I do know of a few! The first that come to mind are The Tales of Goldstone Wood Series by Anne Elizabeth Stengl and The Blood of Kings Series by Jill Williamson my sisters love both of them. Then these are quite fantasy but Melanie Dickerson's fairy-tale retellings are amazing and Lisa T. Bergren's River of Time Series (time-travel back to 14th century Italy) is probably my favorite series of all time! Hope this helps some!
Thanks, Abbi! I will definitely check those out. I actually saw the River of Time series button on your sidebar and added it to my TBR list. I'll definitely check that one out soon!
Nice to know I'm not the only one who scratches their head when they change cover designs midway. Aggravating!! And I hate the way ARCs look on my shelf also. I also have a few huge spiral bound galleys that I don't know what the heck to do with.
*Side note* I rec'd The Lady of Bolton Hall from Paperbackswap so I no longer will need to borrow it via Kindle. Now, just to get around to reading it!! =)
Enjoy your reads this week!
