Life Flight by Lynette Eason

About the Book
EMS helicopter pilot Penny Carlton is used to high stress situations, but being forced to land on a mountain in a raging storm with a critical patient--and a serial killer on the loose--tests her skills and her nerve to the limit. She survives with FBI Special Agent Holt Satterfield's help. But she's not out of the woods yet.
In the ensuing days, Penny finds herself under attack. And when news reaches Holt that he may not have gotten his man after all, it will take all he and Penny have to catch a killer--before he catches one of them.
Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason is back with another high-octane tale of close calls, narrow escapes, and the fight to bring a nefarious criminal to justice.

My Thoughts
This author’s books tend to be hit or miss for me, either I’m raving about them or struggling to get through. Somehow this book was a little bit of both.
The suspense angle and villain were exceptionally done. Intriguing and dark but not pushing the creepy too far for me. I was invested in all the aspects of the hunt for the serial killer the entire time.
The characters themselves were great but the romance angle is kind of where this fell apart for me because there really wasn’t any. They had had some previous interactions and continued to have moments together throughout the story but there was no chemistry or spark. They felt like two people involved in a case together. Not saying that they didn’t work as a couple, because I could see how they’d be compatible, but nothing that was on the page screamed “these people are romantically involved.”
I was also a little confused about the inclusion of the stuff with the hero’s sister. I don’t know why we needed another whole crime to be on the back burner throughout, and the guy was being an absolute idiot not telling the girl about what was going on while at the same time being mad that she hadn’t told him things about her past-major eye-roll moment.
I did overall enjoy reading this book though and the small problems I had with things were never enough to make me question finishing the book. Overall I think this will be a hit with fans of this author and I’m curious about future books in the series.

Hostile Intent by Lynette Eason

About the Book
Ava Jackson entered the military shortly after high school, but her mother's illness has forced her to request an early discharge. She already lost her father while deployed, and there's no way she's going to let her mother die alone. But after a visit to the nursing facility where her mother lives, Ava is attacked walking back to her car. Fortunately, FBI Special Agent Caden Denning arrives in time to help fight off her attacker.
Caden reveals to Ava that she may hold the key to the murders of three families, and he needs her help before anyone else is harmed. The hits show a pattern, and clearly the killer has an agenda. But if Caden and Ava can't discover what it is, Ava may be next on the hit list.
Bestselling author Lynette Eason concludes her latest suspense-filled series with a bang as secrets are revealed and the guilty are brought to justice.

My Thoughts
This series has been a bit rocky for me and after really not enjoying the last one I kind of decided I wasn’t going to read this one. But then my bestie read it and said it was amazing so I decided to give it a shot. And she was absolutely right! From the very first page I was completely hooked and couldn’t read fast enough! Eason struck the perfect balance between all the things! The villain was pure evil and had a backstory that showed how he became what he was but it wasn’t taken to too dark of a place. The action and suspense was steady throughout but not to the point of never catching your breath. There was enough revealed at the right time that you didn’t feel in the dark as a reader but there were also some pieces you just had to wait to figure out! And the romance wasn’t the insta-love you normally find in suspense since the characters had know each other since childhood. So yeah this book really hit the sweet spot in basically every aspect and I loved it!
Caden and Ava were both fabulous and the type of characters you could easily root for. I really appreciated how Ava was skilled and capable but wasn’t above letting people help her. She knew when she needed to do things and when she could let someone else do them. And on the flip side Caden trusted her to handle what she said she could but was always there to step in when needed. You don’t see that often in books and I loved it so much that it deserved a mention!
The only thing that wasn’t my favorite was the epilogue, it went down the cheesy route that is for some reason the norm in suspense and I could have done without it. But it didn’t damper my love for this book and I definitely recommend this one!

Acceptable Risk by Lynette Eason

About the Book
Sarah Denning is a military journalist with the Army in the Middle East when her convoy is attacked and she's taken hostage. When former Army Ranger Gavin Black is asked by his old unit commander--Sarah's imposing father--to plan an extremely risky rescue, he reluctantly agrees and successfully executes it.
Back in the US, Sarah is livid when she's discharged on a false psychiatric evaluation and vows to return to the Army. Until she learns of her brother's suicide. Unable to believe her brother would do such a thing, she puts her plans on hold and enlists Gavin to help her discover the truth. What they uncover may be the biggest story of Sarah's career--if she can survive long enough to write it.
Strap in for another breakneck nail-biter from bestselling romantic suspense author Lynette Eason that will have you up turning pages long into the night.

My Thoughts
Get ready for another non-stop action-packed read from Lynette Eason.
This book starts with a bang and the punches just keep coming till the very end! Literally at every turn something crazy was happening or being discovered and it made the pages turn quite quickly.
The characters were both likable (besides Sarah’s issues with her dad that made her come across as irrational at times) and they made a good couple. I liked that they’d had a bit of a backstory before the book started so their relationship had some ground to stand on outside of the adrenaline fueled days that they had in the story.
The case was unique and interesting and I was definitely curious as to how it was all being pulled off, which kept me hooked till the end!
All an all a good read that is sure to have readers on the edge of their seats!

Collateral Damage by Lynette Eason

About the Book
Honorably discharged from the Army after an explosion nearly killed her, former military psychiatrist Brooke Adams has set up shop to help others--but her days of helping military personnel are over. She's got her own battles to fight from her time overseas, and she's not equipped to take on more. Former Army Special Ops Sergeant First Class Asher James could handle anything that war sent his way--terrorists, bombs, bullets. The only thing that scares him now is sleep. As the shadows close in, the nightmares begin.
Finally convinced that he needs help, Asher makes an appointment with a counselor, and Brooke is pressed by her boss to take him on. When he arrives at her office she isn't there--but a dead body is. Brooke is devastated when she walks in, and Asher is a conveniently strong shoulder to cry on. But she can't take him on as a client after sharing such an intimate and unprofessional moment, can she? And he's not sure he can handle sharing his deepest fears with such a beautiful woman.
When it becomes clear that Brooke was the real target of the attack--and that her secrets go even deeper than his own--Asher vows to protect her no matter what.
Bestselling author Lynette Eason is back with a new series that spans the globe and will have your heart working overtime.

My Thoughts
Like all of Eason’s books this one definitely got started with a bang and I felt like I was there with the characters in the war zone. Unfortunately things got a little chaotic for a bit as there were a lot of characters and different plots that initially didn’t seem to jive. But like the skilled author she is Eason managed to bring it all together in ways that were surprising me up until the end! And after the initial confusion of the first 100 pages or so I got totally hooked into the story and was on the edge of my seat watching it all play out!
The characters were likable and I appreciated that the romance level was on a slow burn that was realistic for the circumstances. We also got to meet some other characters that I believe will be appearing in future books and I am excited to see where their stories take them!
All in all another action-packed read from Eason that will be sure to delight her fans and lovers of romantic suspense!

Vow of Justice by Lynette Eason

About the Book
FBI Special Agent Lincoln St. John is living his own personal nightmare. When the woman he loves, Allison Radcliffe, is killed, he devotes his life to tracking down the killers and making them pay for their crimes. He expected it to be a challenge. What he never expected was to find Allison very much alive shortly after her "murder." As his anger and hurt mix with relief, Linc isn't sure how he's supposed to feel. One thing he does know for sure: he and Allison will have to work together to stop a killer before she dies a second time--this time for good.
Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason closes out her Blue Justice series with a story that will have you tearing through the pages to get to the stunning conclusion.

My Thoughts
I’m going to go ahead and say it. This series is Eason’s best work to date! I’ve loved every single one of the St. John siblings’ stories and I’m kind of sad to see them end, but when it ends on such a high note I can’t be sad for too long!
I loved both Linc and Allie and definitely liked them as a couple. They had started a bit of a relationship before this story began so it removed that rushed romance feeling that is sometimes present in romantic suspense-which was a major plus in my book!
I also loved the pacing of the plot, there was just the right of action and twists to keep the reader hooked, without crossing into the far-fetched side of things. I personally hated putting the book down, and while I guessed some things there were still a few surprises for me!
All of the side characters were well written, I especially liked Daria, and kind of wish we could get a story about her in the future! I also loved getting to see more of the St. John family!
This book was a very satisfying conclusion to a fantastic series and I’m excited to see what the author has in store for us next!

Code of Valor by Lynette Eason

About the Book
What Detective Brady St. John really needs is a relaxing vacation. Unfortunately, just as the sun is setting on his second day at a friend's cabin on Lake Henley, he hears a scream and races to rescue a woman from her would-be killer. When the killer escapes only to return to finish the job, Brady vows to utilize all of his many resources to keep her safe--and catch those who would see her dead.
Financial crimes investigator Emily Chastain doesn't trust many people. And even though she let the detective who saved her life in on a few pertinent facts about why she was being attacked, there are some things you just don't share with a stranger. Little does she suspect that the secret she is keeping just might get them both killed.
Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason sends readers on a race for the truth in this heart-stopping story of risk, regret, and redemption.

My Thoughts
I read this book in almost one sitting! I’ve loved Brady in the previous books so I was really excited for him to get his story! He’s a protector at heart and it showed in his care of Emily from the very start. And I loved the way he saw her beauty when she couldn’t see it for herself and consistently reminded her of it.
Emily hadn’t had an easy life but she pushed through her past to find joy. She still struggled with things, like her self-image, but she didn’t let her past control her life.
Brady and Emily were thrown together through unfortunate circumstances but I loved watching their relationship quietly unfold as they worked side by side to find answers.
The suspense/mystery angle had me quickly turning pages and kept throwing twists I didn’t see coming!
I once again loved seeing the St. John clan, their family dynamic is quite entertaining and I can’t wait to read more of them! I also loved the appearance of characters from Lynn H. Blackburn’s Dive Team Investigations series!
All in all a wonderful addition to Eason’s brilliant romantic suspense line-up!

Called to Protect by Lynette Eason

About the Book
For the past year, Chloe St. John has been working as a K-9 cop with her German shepherd partner, Hank. After being dumped by her fiancé for another woman, Chloe has decided that Hank is just about the only male she likes. She's over the whole romance thing and focuses her attention on doing her job. Because a serious case of human trafficking with connections to her missing cousin just landed in her lap.
When US Marshall Blake MacCallum's daughter goes missing, he's ordered to kill the judge he's protecting and tell no one about his daughter's disappearance or she will die. Blake races against the clock to rescue his daughter while Chloe and Hank are asked to be a part of the task force assembled to bring down the traffickers. Chloe finds herself attracted to the silent, suffering man, but thanks to her previous bad judgment, she wonders if she can trust him. And can Blake trust himself around this firecracker of a woman?

Bestselling author Lynette Eason warns readers to buckle in for a fast and furious ride that will have their hearts pumping from the very start.

My Thoughts
Lynette Eason knows how to write gripping suspense and this definitely lived up to my expectations! I was totally hooked into the story and was reading every spare chance I had so that I could find out the ending.
Everything played out in such a non-predictable way that as soon as I thought everything was worked out there was another twist thrown in!
I really appreciated how the romance aspect was subtle and played out in a way fitting the story. I was a little worried at first that it would be kinda insta-relationship but I loved the way she handled it!
Chloe and Blake were both really wonderful characters that had strong senses of right and wrong and fought to find justice. I also loved their commitment to those they loved.
I enjoyed seeing more of the St. John family and look forward to getting the rest of the siblings stories!

All in all a non-stop exciting read that I definitely recommend!

Top Ten Books With 'Heart' in the Title

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This is going up late because life has been a little non-stop the past few days and then my battery died on me the one chance I had to get it up. But better late than never! There are a lot of frequently used words in Christian Fiction book titles and one I come across quite a lot is the word "heart" I found about 20 titles with the word on my shelves and here are ten of them!

#1. A Heart Revealed by Julie Lessman

#2. Heart on the Line by Karen Witemeyer

#3. My Foolish Heart by Susan May Warren

#4. My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade

#5. Paper Hearts/A Change of Heart by Courtney Walsh

#6. The Bound Heart by Dawn Crandall

#7. The Heart Between Us by Lindsay Harrel

#8. Rebelious Heart by Jody Hedlund

#9. A Heart Most Certain by Melissa Jagears

#10. When a Heart Stops by Lynette Eason

Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason

About the Book
Police officer Isabelle St. John loves her crazy, loud, law-enforcement family. With three brothers and two sisters, she's never without someone to hang out with--or fight with. And she knows they'll be there for her when things get tough. Like when her partner is murdered and she barely escapes with her own life.
Determined to discover exactly what happened, Izzy's investigation sends her headfirst into a criminal organization, possibly with cops on the payroll--including someone from her own family. With her dead partner's handsome homicide detective brother Ryan shadowing her every move, Izzy's head is spinning. How can she secure justice for her partner when doing so could mean sending someone she loves to prison? And how will she guard her heart when the man she's had a secret crush on for years won't leave her side?

With her signature fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat action, Lynette Eason invites readers into a captivating new series where justice is a family affair.

My Thoughts
This book kept me up way longer than I planned on, I was exhausted but I just couldn’t put it down until I knew how it ended! From start to finish I was sucked into the story, trying to figure out how the pieces fit and who to trust, right along with Ryan and Izzy. There were so many twists and unexpected turns that it wasn’t until just about the last second that I finally put it all together.
I loved both Ryan and Izzy, they were both great cops and even though they faced a devastating loss they found their way through it to make sure justice was found for their brother and partner. They had known each other forever but they were both starting to feel something more and their relationship seemed to develop naturally from the foundation of their friendship.
I loved the closeness of Izzy’s family and I’m looking forward to getting more of her sibling’s stories!

This book was so good with non-stop action and a sweet love story! Definitely a must read for romantic suspense lovers!

Chasing Secrets by Lynette Eason

About the Book
Elite Guardians bodyguard Haley Callaghan may be in South Carolina, but when a photo leads investigators in West Ireland to open a twenty-five-year-old cold case, her life is suddenly in danger. Haley knows how to take care of herself; after all, she's made a career out of taking care of others. But after an uncomfortably close call, Detective Steven Rothwell takes it upon himself to stay with her--and the young client she has taken under her wing. A protector at heart, he's not about to let Haley fight this battle alone.
In a sweeping plot that takes them into long-buried memories--and the depths of the heart--Haley and Steven will have to solve the mystery of Haley's past while dodging bullets, bombs, and bad guys who just won't quit.

My Thoughts
I think this may be my favorite of this series! I didn't feel like we got to know Haley very well in the previous books but I was intrigued by her nonetheless. And as she came alive in this book I began to really love her character. At first she appears to be just a tough fighter but she's a bit of a softy when it comes to those she loves and people in need. She is always ready and willing to do anything and everything that needs done. Steven was a great character too, I loved how he jumped in to help without question and the way he seemed to be able to sense what people needed and provided it. Haley and Steven really went well together and even though their relationship was a bit rushed (kind of a trademark with this author) I still liked them as a couple.
The plot of this book was definitely giving me an Anastasia feel and it was kind of a cool twist to the story! I kept thinking I knew who was after Haley but I was totally wrong and the ending was a bit of a shock! Definitely another fast-paced read that was action from beginning to end!

Sins of the Past Novella Collection

About the Book
In Dee Henderson's Missing a Wyoming sheriff is called to Chicago when his elderly mother goes missing. Paired with a savvy Chicago cop, the two realize her disappearance is no accident, and a race against the clock begins.

Dani Pettrey returns to Alaska with Shadowed introducing readers to the parents of her beloved McKenna clan. Adventure, romance, and danger collide when a young fisherman nets the body of an open-water swimming competitor who may actually be a possible Russian defector.

Lynette Eason's Blackout delivers the story of a woman once implicated in a robbery gone wrong. The loot has never been found--but her memory of that night has always been unreliable. Can she remember enough to find her way to safety when the true culprit comes after her?

My Thoughts
Missing
I absolutely love this author's early work but ever since she started writing again after her long hiatus I'm honestly not a fan. That being said I was a little wary of this novella, though that didn't stop me. It felt very much like an episode of a crime drama which was kinda fun and different. I would have enjoyed a bit more romance but at the same time I was glad that they didn't suddenly make it a big thing which would have just felt way too fake. Overall it wasn't a bad read but it definitely wasn't a favorite.

Shadowed
Honestly this story is the main reason I wanted to get my hands on this collection. I adore Dani's Alaskan Courage series and I was so excited to get the story of the McKenna's parents! Thankfully it was everything I was hoping for and more! From their amusing first meeting, to when they visited the site of the future McKenna home, to them discussing what they hoped their family would look like, was absolutely adorable and perfect! I loved how it was set during the Cold War since I don't think I've ever read a book set during that time. And the mystery kept me on my toes! It was definitely easy to see where their kids got their adventurous natures from!

Blackout
This was an action-packed novella and was quite fun to read! I was totally drawn into figuring out the mystery of what had happened the night of the robbery years ago and who was involved. Chad and Macey were great characters and I liked them together. All in all it was a great short story!

Moving Target by Lynette Eason

About the Book
When Maddy McKay and Quinn Holcombe don't show up for Quinn's surprise birthday party, his friends know that something is very wrong. Their search turns up little beyond evidence that Quinn and Maddy just decided to take off for a long overdue vacation. But it soon becomes apparent that they did not leave of their own accord.
Maddy awakens in a cement room with no idea where she is. But it's not long before she realizes she's in the clutches of a madman exacting revenge by hunting. His prey of choice? Humans. Now Maddy and Quinn must run for their lives, hoping to find their killer before the next game begins. Because if they don't win this game, they die.
Fast, furious, and flirty, Lynette Eason's relentless suspense barely gives her readers time to catch their breath in this third thrilling installment of the Elite Guardians series.

My Thoughts
As is typically the case with Lynette Eason's writing, this book sucked me in from the very start!
It was such a unique plot, a serial killer who kidnaps his victims and then releases them on a death trap filled island. In my opinion that part should have lasted longer than it did but regardless this book had me on the edge of my seat. The race to figure out who "The Chosen One" was and stop him before it was to late and solving the other mysteries presented kept me turning pages.
We got to meet Quinn and Maddy in the previous books, though I felt I knew Quinn better, and it was nice to finally get their story. They were both fabulous characters and I admired their determination to see the case through to the end. They were a great match for each other, a fact that took someone longer to figure out than everyone else!
In short this was a fast paced novel I found hard to put down and I loved it!

Without Warning by Lynette Eason

About the Book
Katie Singleton, a partner with the Elite Guardians Protection Agency, stumbles upon her next assignment quite by accident. Spotting blue lights at a familiar restaurant, she stops to investigate, only to discover that owner Daniel Matthews has become the target of someone who will go to any lengths to put him out of business.
Daniel might be concerned, but he's not convinced that a bodyguard--and a female one at that--is necessary. A new attack and his niece's urgings are enough to make him reconsider. He and Katie must figure out who's behind the intimidation and threats--before a would-be killer strikes again.

Witty dialogue and a simmering attraction will have readers flying through this tension-laced thriller. Eason exercises complete control of her readers' emotions as they race through the pages to discover the truth.

My Thoughts
Lynette Eason's novels never fail to capture my attention and keep me on the edge of my seat and that was true of this one as well.
Daniel and Katie were very well suited for each other and while their relationship was a little fast paced I still enjoyed watching their romance play out. They had quite a lot in common and I loved how they complemented each other.
The mystery of who was behind the attacks was intriguing though I did have my suspicions early on (and I was right!). Everything played out in a fast paced manor and I was rapidly turning pages to see what happened. The ending was quite similar to Eason's others, which is getting a bit cliched but otherwise it was great! I thoroughly enjoyed this story from the start to the finish and I can't wait to read the next installment in this series!

Always Watching by Lynette Eason

About the Book
The bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency have more than just skill and prowess in common--they're also all women. When it becomes clear that popular psychiatrist and radio personality Wade Savage has a stalker, his father secretly hires Elite Guardians in order to protect his son.
But when Wade's bodyguard is attacked and nearly killed, agency owner Olivia Edwards must step in and fill the gap. Olivia's skills are about to be tested to the limit as Wade's stalker moves from leaving innocent gifts at his door to threatening those closest to him. Olivia has the feeling that she's next on the list. And to complicate things even further, she realizes that her heart may be in as much danger as her client.
Bestselling author and fan favorite Lynette Eason drops readers right into the action in this fast-paced new series with a unique twist. Readers will love these strong female characters who put it all on the line to save lives.

My Thoughts
I've come to expect fast paced action when I pick up a Lynette Eason book and this one was definitely that! I found it interesting how the typical roles were reversed and the woman was was the protector while the man was the one needing protection, though to be honest I prefer it the other way. This has absolutely nothing to do with woman being able to whatever men can, I just like the hero in books to be, well, the hero. That being said I still thoroughly enjoyed this book! Olivia was a take charge woman with a thick wall around her heart but she was still a caring person. Wade had a much gentler personality which was necessary for his chosen professions and he seemed to know just how to get through Olivia's defenses. I enjoyed the rest of the characters too and I look forward to getting the other team members's stories in the future books!
The action kept me turning pages and while I guessed some of the outcome there were still things that surprised me!

In short this was a great read that I'd recommend to any fans of romantic suspense!
