Top Ten Books That Were Totally Deceiving

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is Top Ten Books That Were Totally Deceiving (those covers or titles that don't fit the books, a book that was totally different than its summary, or those books you thought were going to be fluff that turned out to be more serious etc etc.) This was a hard one for me but I gave it my best shot!

#1 Sweeter Than Birdsong by Rosslyn Elliott
The description and the cover both made it seem that this book was mainly about music. But music stuff seemed to be the minor plot while abolitionist work and social class problems was the main focus. This didn't really bother me and I loved the book!

#2 The Princess by Lori Wick
This books description made it seem like the story was set in the olden days but it was really a contemporary novel. Which actually made the book cooler and more interesting!

#3 Attracted to Fire by DiAnn Mills
While the cover kinda made me wary the description sounded really good. But alas it was not so and I wasn't able to finish it. And as my sister pointed out the title really didn't seem to fit the book!

#4 Wife Wanted in Dry Creek by Janet Tronstad
I can't begin to describe how much this book had wrong! The description was EXTREMELY misleading and the book was just horrible. It took place in like 3 days and big issues were resolved in the blink of an eye!

#5 The Bride Bargain by Kelly Eileen Hake
This book's cover is messing with a great story. If I hadn't loved the description and really wanted to read a book by this author the cover might have stopped me from reading it! Hint: Don't let it stop you! This book is awesome!

#6 Kidnapped by Dee Henderson
This books cover and description weren't deceiving it was the fact they had renamed True Courage and taken it out of the Uncommon Heroes series. Which for the record was an absolutely brilliant idea. It just made you think there was a new Dee Henderson book when there was not.

And after that I drew a complete blank so I asked my sisters for help on the last four.

#7 From Ashes to Honor by Loree Lough
The cover has NYC from the ocean, but very little of the book is set there. And it's supposed to be a romance but doesn't end as a happy-ever-after.

#8 Lie For Me by Karen Young

The title and back cover talk about this divorced guy asking his fiancee to lie for him about where he was at the time of his ex-wife's murder, but that issue really has little impact on the book-maybe 4-5 pages? He asks her to lie about halfway into the book, she worries about it a little, he realizes he shouldn't have asked and tells her so.

# 9 Ends of the Earth by Tim Downs
This book wasn't extremely deceiving but the cover just kinda threw you to begin with but once you read the book it fit. And the title didn't really fit the book/series.

#10 Meet Mr. Smith by Eric and Leslie Ludy
The title seemed rather strange when you read the subtitle but after the book was done it made a lot more sense.

It's amazing how the descriptions and the actual book don't match sometimes! I hadn't thought about it, but you're totally right about #1. And I TOTALLY agree with your sister about #7! Huge letdown for me at the end.

Nice list! I've not read any of them, yet. It's nice to see some different books for a change.

I hate it when things happen so fast for the characters and issues are resolved super quick.Hello! That's not real life!
