A Memory Between Us by Sarah Sundin

About the Book
Major Jack Novak has never failed to meet a challenge--until he meets army nurse Lieutenant Ruth Doherty. When Jack lands in the army hospital after a plane crash, he makes winning Ruth's heart a top priority mission. But he has his work cut out for him. Not only is Ruth focused on her work in order to support her orphaned siblings back home, she carries a shameful secret that keeps her from giving her heart to any man. As the danger and tension of World War II rise to a fever pitch, Jack and Ruth will need each other more than ever. Can Jack break down her defenses? Or are they destined to go their separate ways?

My Thoughts
Because I adored the first book in this series, A Distant Melody, this book had to meet some very high expectations which turned out to be no problem for it since it met them all with excellence! A Distant Melody is probably my favorite of the two, simply due to the fact that I liked Walter and Allie a little more than Jack and Ruth. But favorites aside this book was just as good as the first one! It amazed me once again, this author's uncanny ability to weave a beautiful story that touched all of my emotions. I was crying, laughing, yelling in anger/frustration, sitting on the edge of my seat in fear, and so much more. The characters were so well written that I felt everything they did. There are very few books that can capture my emotions so fully but Sarah Sundin's definitely do. Jack occasionally made me mad with his actions and other times made my heart melt but watching him mature and learn to rely on God was really cool, and the man he was at the end of the book was a true hero. Ruth's life was a hard one but I loved how she never gave up and kept pushing on, despite all that was going against her. She didn't deserve so much of what happened to her, and more than once I wanted to smack someone for what they did to her. It's hard to put into words just how amazing these books are and my words hardly do them justice. So you should definitely check them out and experience it all for yourself.
I made a playlist on grooveshark with all of the songs mentioned in this book so if you want a soundtrack while you read, check it out! A Memory Between Us Grooveshark Playlist

My sister read these, but I haven't. You do make them sound good, so I might change that one day.
