Playing the Part by Jen Turano

About the Book
Lucetta Plum is an actress on the rise in New York City, but is forced to abandon her starring role when a fan's interest turns threatening. Lucetta's widowed friend, Abigail Hart, is delighted at the opportunity to meddle in Lucetta's life and promptly whisks her away to her grandson's estate to hide out.
Bram Haverstein may appear to simply be a somewhat eccentric gentleman of means, but a mysterious career and a secret fascination with a certain actress mean there's much more to him than society knows.

Lucetta, who has no interest in Abigail's matchmaking machinations, has the best intentions of remaining cordial but coolly distant to Bram. But when she can't ignore the strange and mysterious things going on in his house, it'll take more than good intentions to keep her from trying to discover who Bram is behind the part he plays.

My Thoughts
As is always the case with Jen Turano's novels, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read! From the first page I was drawn into the hysterical adventure that was this book. Lucetta was an entertaining character in the first two books of the Ladies of Distinction series and it was fun to get to delve into her story more. I loved Bram, he was the quintessential knight-in-shining-armor type who was always looking out for misfits and those in need. One needed to look no further than his unusual staff and assortment of animals to find evidence of that. At first glance Lucetta and Bram weren't the obvious match, an independent actress determined to take care of herself and a seemingly eccentric castle owner who made it his mission to help anyone and everyone, but as the book progressed it was obvious that they were meant to be. In true Turano style there were plenty of mishaps and misunderstandings all of which had me smiling or laughing out loud. It was great to catch up with the characters from the previous books and I loved all of the new characters we got to meet. In short this was another well done book from an fabulous author and I can't wait to see what she's going to do next!
