Talkin' Thursday: Judging a Book By It's Cover

Book covers. They can be beautiful or ugly, modern or old fashioned, scary or serene, bright or dull, exciting or boring. And when we see one, an opinion is immediately formed in our minds about the book it is covering. When there's a man and a woman we expect a romance, when there's an action scene we expect a thriller, and so on and so forth. And when a cover looks tacky we often don't bother picking up the book yet when the cover is gorgeous or interesting we suddenly have to know what  the book is about.

It seems so strange to me how this is so wired in to us. And it's not just true for books. I don't think there is anyone who hasn't judged a movie, a house, a car, and most of all people, by how they look on the outside. We should really stop making snap judgments. I have read so many books, watched so many movies, and met so many people, that at first seem weird or bad but turn out to be completely awesome.

So for today I was wondering how many good books out there are hiding behind bad covers. Let me know in the comments what books you have read that had not so great covers but really good stories-Please!?

I'd say Dark Liaison by D.I. Telbat... I loved the book, but the cover isn't one of my favs...
