The Question:
What is your favorite holiday beverage to drink while you're reading?

My Answer:
Eggnog has long been my favorite holiday beverage but I just discovered Peppermint White Hot Chocolate at Starbucks and I'm in love!

"Please join me every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name."

"I'm warning you, girl," Zeke Crawford called from his dory. "You and your crazy grandpa can leave the island nice-like. Or I'll run you off."
Abbie Watson shielded her  eyes against the bright morning sun and glared at Zeke across the glittering water.
Never Forget by Jody Hedlund

My Thoughts
Lots of questions brought to mind! Why does Zeke want them off the island and why won't they leave?

The Warrior's Seal by Ronie Kendig

About the Book
A Special Forces team is thrust into a war with the past to save the president after an artifact unleashes a deadly toxin.

Special Forces operative Cole "Tox" Russell and his team are tasked in a search-and-rescue--the U.S. president has been kidnapped during a goodwill tour. The mission nosedives when an ancient biblical artifact and a deadly toxin wipe out villages. Tox must stop the terrorists and the toxin to save the president.

My Thoughts
Talk about getting started with a bang! This novella is the kick-off to Ronie Kendig's newest suspense series and I couldn't get through it fast enough! Between the thrill of the race against time and the intrigue of the mace and the toxin that follows it I was on the edge of my seat from the first word to the last! I loved getting to meet the cast of characters and I'm already a fan of them all! Tox is already proving to be an amazing hero that you can't help but love and I'm interested to get to know him and his team even more! Tzivia was definitely intriguing and I'm excited to learn more about her and what makes her tick.
I won't spoil anything but the way this novella ended made me very happy that I waited till I already had Conspiracy of Silence and could dive right in!

The Question:
What is your best guess that you won't be changing the genres you currently read?

My Answer:
I've gotten pretty good at know what kind of books I'll enjoy so I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with my current genres. But I'm not opposed to trying new ones though there aren't many I haven't tried!

Vindication tasted like sweat. Backbreaking, limb-aching sweat. Tzivia Khalon pushed onto her knees and used the back of her gloved hand to wipe away the perspiration plastering her hair to her face and neck.
Conspiracy of Silence by Ronie Kendig

My Thoughts
Love this beginning. The words and the images they bring to your head are brilliantly crafted!

Top Ten Bookish Things and People I'm Thankful For

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Authors

Julie Lessman
I've had the privilege of getting to know this author a little better and she is every bit as wonderful as the novels she writes!

Melissa Tagg
Another author who I love as a person as much as I love as an author! Her humor never fails to make me laugh and her books leave me in a happy puddle!

Susan May Warren
I got to meet this author a month ago and it was one of the best half hours I can remember! Fangirling with an author is the best!

Kristi Ann Hunter
A new author but already a favorite! I adored her first books and her next one is going to be a marriage of convenience so I'm even more excited!

Kara Issac
Just read this author's debut and I'm in love! She took Tolkien, romance, and humor and mixed it up into a novel of epic amazingness!

Bookish Things

Books that make me laugh
I love to laugh and I love to read so when the two are combined I'm a very happy camper!

Gorgeous book covers
Who doesn't love staring at a pretty book cover!? I seriously wish I could blow some of them up and hang them on my wall, but I'm not sure how the legality of that works...

Libib app
This app is amazingly wonderful! It's the perfect way to keep track of your books and when you have over 860, keeping track is hard to do!

Review books
Free books, need I say more?!

Family sagas
I absolutely adore series that are all about families! It makes everything so much more connected and it is awesome!
