About the Book
Emily Hunt might come from a family of cops, but she never goes looking for an adrenaline rush. She lives the quiet--well, relatively quiet--life of a teacher and thrives on making a difference in the lives of her students. But she'll have to draw on a well of strength and savvy she didn't know she had as student Rafael Cerda takes her class hostage for ransom money to save his brother's life.
Undercover cop Mason Taylor has been working with Rafael to find his brother and bring the cartel thugs who hold him to justice. Can he talk Rafael down from his impulsive actions? And is there something more sinister at work here than he realizes?
Fatal Exchange draws readers into a complex matrix of intertwining lives and unraveling secrets, where every answer creates more questions. Romantic suspense fans will hardly want to come up for air.
My Thoughts
I read Dangerous Passage last year and loved it so I jumped at the chance to review this second book! Thankfully it lived up to my expectations and I loved it!
I was a little surprised by how short of a time the book took place during but at the same time it never really seemed that short. I really appreciated how the author avoided the “insta-love” scenario by having the characters know each other for awhile and even have feelings for each other in the past that didn't turn into anything due to the fact that Mason wasn't a Christian at the time. So the circumstances in this book just served to bring them together again at a time that something was possible.
I really liked both Emily and Mason! Mason was the strong hero with a soft side and Emily was the sweet heroine with an unexpected strong side.
The story-line was attention grabbing and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it play out! There were so many unexpected twists and I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next! I totally did not see the last scene coming and now I totally cannot wait for book three!

After reading the first book in this series, I loved how the romance developed, too. It "felt" very real because the couple was already dating/had known each other for a while. Glad Lisa does the same with book two. :)
Rissi-Yeah I always enjoy when the authors take care with that aspect!
